Once we figured out the instructions and what they meant we zipped thru the assembly - pictures not very helpful. Boys love the bed - very functional. Futon make excellent reading area and when they have sleepover it easily converts to full size bed. All their friends have admired their new bedroom set.

Since this product is a mix and match design item it comes in several boxes with multiple instructions and those are vague at best. The concept is awesome since I have three boys bunking in one room. One of the headboards on this "sturdy" bed split in the process of construction which may have just been a bad piece of wood. Wood glue and some long screws shored that up. Boys have yet to sleep on it but considering they have no problems sleeping on the floor it should be perfect for them. If you have patience and a little skill with a drill, glue and screws then this is perfect.

The wood is quality and solid. However, there was a pretty big nick out of one of the pieces, but we were able to hide that piece against the wall. Also, instructions were not as detailed as I would have liked, and a little confusing.

best bed ever my kids love it my oldest son sleeps on the foton i put a t.v. right in the back of the stairs both of my boys can have a friend over with the trundle under the foton i love it my kids love it so we both sleep happily ever after.

Like everyone says, the instructions for this were not good. A simple change would be to modify the parts list to make sure people know that not all 7 bed rails are the same - there is really 5 and two more parts. Same for the bottom head boards. The quantity says 3 - but they are all really different. Knowing that would have prevented me from using the wrong piece and then having to take things apart to correct once I figure out I didn't have the right piece available. It did take several hours to build. We were missing 4 washers and a couple screws to connect the loft to the bunk bed - nothing that a quick trip to the hardware didn't solve. The bottom drawer did arrive damaged, but we used wood glue and fixed it right up. I would have liked to get it with the futon on the right so that it would fit in the room better but all in all, my boys LOVE it!

This is a terrible bed. The directions are a joke. I would not even call them directions since they do not direct you in putting the bed together. I did not receive the correct materials to put the bed together, called to get the rest of the hardware and I'm STILL missing hardware! I have spend HOURS trying to put the bed together and at every turn there has been a problem. And after endless hours the beds are still not together.
I had to replace the drawers that go under the futon because they were shipped broken. Guess what??? The second set are also broken. Next time I will spend three times as much to have directions that direct, have all the hardware needed, and be sure what I do get isn't broken.

Purchased for my 12 and 14 yr old daughters. One sleeps on top bunk and the other on futon. I purchased a thick futon mattress that works great. The bunk beds are high and close to the ceiling, like loft beds. Not good for someone with low ceilings. The bed frame does not fit in the room as well as I would have liked. One of the slats broke the first day, but no problems since. It was HORRIBLE putting this thing together!! Instructions not so great. Probably took me 5 to 7 hrs to assemble over the course of 3 days. My girls have plenty of room for sleepovers on the extra bed and we have a desk under the loft bed. They seem to like it, as well as their 2 younger sibilings. I shopped around and this bed is a good price for all it offers. It is not top-quality, but not cheapie either. The wood is a medium color and has a rustic look to it.
