The Schoolhouse Student Loft Bed - Cherry is a complete station for the hard-working student, encouraging a balance between work and rest - though a bit of extra rest couldn't hurt. This loft is masterfully crafted from solid hardwood and finished in dark cherry for unparalleled loveliness and strength. What makes this bed truly unique are the desk and chest ends, able to be placed at either side to suit any placement in the room. The desk may even be turned outward or inward depending on your child's preference or spatial constraints. Included are a ladder and guardrail for safety, and you may choose to add the optional lower bed if you like. The loft measures 80L x 42W x 67.75H inches. The lower bed measures 80.75L x 42W x 24H inches.

The assembly is quite easy.
Overall, I like the unit quite a bit. It's quite stable, nice looking, and arrived with no visible defects.
However, there were a few drawers not aligned quite right. And some of the pre-drilled assembly holes weren't quite deep enough to accommodate the threaded inserts. Also, one threaded hole wasn't bored out enough and the screw pushed the wood out on the back side. I probably shouldn't have tightened it so much, but it wouldn't have happened if the hole was drilled to the correct depth.
There is one other odd thing to me. There doesn't appear to be any "racking" support in the horizontal plane. That is to say, the two end supports only connect to the bed platform at the far ends. Because of this, the bed could shift diagonally and put quite a bit of stress on those connections.
Again... I don't think this is a huge deal as the bed probably won't move often. But I wouldn't go trying to slide it around a room without being very careful.

This is an awesome bed. High quality drawers with metal rails, bookcase deep enough for 2 rows of books, lots of bolts and screws for a secure fit. Whomever designed this bed did it with the do-it-yourself assembly in mind. All bolts and screws are in easy to access places and the lifting and attaching the bed to the sides is done in smaller chunks that can be easily done. The bed is solid wood. It did take the best part of 4-5 hours to get together but I had 2 eager kids helping. Would definitely go with this company again if I had to buy more furniture in the future.

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter in white. The shipping took 3 weeks, but I expected that. The White Glove service was great. They bring it into the desired room, unpack it neatly and take away all the boxes. Great! Then comes the hard part...putting it together. It took my husband and I 3.5 hours one Saturday morning! The instructions are just pictures, and because there are different options you have to follow along carefully. The main thing I didn't like is it is not the best quality. As you are tightening the screws and bolts you can hear the wood cracking. The pieces are light and not as solid as I hoped. All put together it looks nice, I just don't think this is going to be as durable for as long as I would like. I probably wouldn't recommend it to a friend. In comparison, I bought the Elite Crossover loft bed for my son. Only slightly more and the quality is outstanding. I highly recommend looking at that one.
