Lower bunk clearance is 12.37 inches. Ladder is not welded to frame, so bed can be assembled without it, if you choose.
This twin-size bunk bed is crafted with super-durable metal finished in a modern, shiny silver shade. An included ladder attaches to the top bunk, which is outfitted with slatted guard rails to keep children safe during nap time and nighttime. Low headers and footers complete the look.

Solid, sturdy, good head room for bottom bunk.. I feel very safe with my 5.5 and 3 year old boys in it, and you can't beat that high weight limit. An adult can even be up on the top bunk with a child and theres no concern for support. Directions were clear and it wasnt difficult for two people to put together, give yourself 2 hours to really make sure you do it right. Was missing one end cap, but I'm sure hayneedle will send a replacement quickly.

Bought two of these beds in 2012 for shorehouse/rental...the guests love them (we bought memory foam mattresses separately).
Only complaint was a little peeling on the Silver finish.
Customer service was just as described in their Dur Hanley & Heyneedle guarntee, i was 100% satisfied with their customer support.
We are buying 2 more beds for our primary home in 2013, they are super strong & don't squeek on carpet floors.
Only tweek I made was getting some pipe foam & twistie ties for underneath the top bunk bed...there is sufficicent head clearance but you can still hit your head if you jump out of bed.

The only cons were: Ladder/opening cannot be moved to opposite end of bed. It could have easily been an option with one more hole drilled and a hole plug. Also, there was a burr on one of the threaded holes which required re-tapping (very inconvenient, and added a good 90 mins to the assembly time). Paint damaged on one side, but I just put it against the wall. Despite all that, I think it is a good solid bed frame and could still recommend it.

built a small beach box needs accomodations for more people to sleep in, knowing this has a weight capacity of 350 lbs both top and lower bunk is awesome, very sturdy and just what other's comment doesn't wobble. I've searched a lot and so happy to discover this. I just wish though they have options to place ladder. It's just one spot. It would have been perfect if it's also accessible to feet/head side. But overall I'm a satisfied customer
